About Us
Volunteerism in the Austin Community
More than 58,000 service hours were volunteered by members during the fiscal year June 1, 2009 -- May 31, 2010. As of June 1, 2010, ALA had 386 members. Assistance League returned to the Austin community a very high percentage of the funds received. Through our seven philanthropic programs, last year Assistance League of Austin served:

Assault Survivor Kits® to local hospitals with toiletries, clothing and a book on
surviving rape
- Over 922 senior citizens taken on scenic outings with Bus With Us
- 3,537 students from 117 AISD schools and selected children's shelters with a full school wardrobe of new
clothing, shoes, book bag, grooming kit, and books through
Operation School Bell®; in addition 8,000 students were provided with school
spirit shirts and 715 students with clothing to meet school uniform requirements
- 26 Austin students with
Occupational/Technical Scholarships to Austin Community College, covering tuition, books
and fees
- 12,918 children at Dell Children's Medical Center of Central Texas with gifts from the
Toy Cart
- Over 5,000 members of our community through donations of excess and unusable items to other 501(c)(3)
organizations with Waste Not
